Usually there's an explanation of a character's history, if not on the show, then in interviews with the show's creator or on the web. However, just about everything about Miboshi remains a mystery...

Nobody knows how old Miboshi really is. Since he can posess people whenever he feels like it, he could be hundreds of years old (though I doubt this is the case; I think the seishi are born close to the time of the Miko's coming). As many Seiryuu fans know, each seishi has a sad past; even characters like Tomo and Ashitare. Through my searchings, I haven't found anything about Miboshi; presumably he's a weirdo who likes to practise black magick. He doesn't appear to have any friends or family, though he probably has minions. ^.^
